Allo! As always, I’m tempted to ramble, but I’m going to attempt to cut to the chase with this post… I have a new publication, ONWARDS, which is available now for pre-order!
A lot of you will know, I always carry a camera. As my teacher Graham Cornthwaite pointed out to me - it’s difficult to take a photo without one’. With this advice, I’ve always been looking, observing, documenting my life as I find myself in various places.
I think I’ve come to realise that taking pictures enables me to feel closer to the various communities I’m in, and in some way more connected. I have several portraits and ‘people’ shots in my archive, but I decided to curate a selection of my other photographs here. They are presented as postcards, as I rather like the idea that these are associated with souvenirs from places. To hold them all together as a set is also quite precious. It feels as though these moments I’ve gathered from across Europe have come together to meet, and the postcard format encourages that they are then sent onwards again on their own path. A bit like how I’ve paused in each place, observed, then moved onwards on my path. All is in flux. All is a happening.
these scattered moments, collected over ten years, collated here in temporary alignment;
pause
observe
then travel onwards,
to friends, to lovers, to strangers...
I am self-publishing this series, and as such am creating a pre-order list. There are 20 postcards included in each batch. Each photograph is printed on 350gsm Matte Premium Paper, coated on the photographic side and left uncoated for you to write your own notes on the reverse. The prints are wrapped in a hand-drawn map, which I have printed on 85gsm Translucent Paper, with black crosses marking out the locations where each photograph was taken. The set is presented in an A6 Black Cardboard Box.
All being well, I intend to go to print by August 2025. If you have any questions about the series, shipping methods or otherwise, please pop me a message.
What a unique way of presenting your work, and how exciting! I would love to pre rider a set please Elle x
