Initially, my mind is pondering about the various New Year’s traditions around the world that happen as we rattle into the new calendar year.
In Italy, a tradition is to eat lentils shortly after midnight. The lentils, a little bit like coins, represent wealth and luck. In Spain, eating precisely 12 grapes, one for each month, brings good fortune. Meanwhile, in Scotland the first person to enter your house in the new year is supposed to bring you a gift. It’s an Aye from me.
All these sound great ideas, but for today I’m going to give a visual round up of favourite things that have happened in 2023.
There’s quite a lot. But here are some snaps of (possibly) the top ten.
