so, despite the increasing likelihood that I have disappeared off to mexico, or down a hole underneath the heath trees, or maybe even delved under the ponds and sprouted up in some other magical place, I am still here. Those alternate realities are no less true, they are just not yet realised.
anyhoo here I am and here are you, jarbling along. i’ve no idea what the word means, or if it even exists, but it is here on the page just as much as we are.
I saw a funny hand written sign yesterday on this wall.. clearly somebody was not impressed with somebody else. WHY IS THERE NO PROGRESS ON THIS SITE?! Fortunately, whilst it may have added fuel to their firesome interaction, it actually sparked something in me. It reminded me that I do in fact have a monologue. And it seems there’s a lot of you here who are new! So. Without further ado… ahem,
Hi I’m Elle. I’m based in London where I have a wee studio in the garden. Professionally speaking I’m a photographer, specialising in portraits and people. Recently I’ve been working with actors, therapists, intimacy coordinators, artists… it’s really fun spending an hour or so getting to know somebody and their work, and taking some lovely photographs for them. I’m seeking to book more of this sort of work, so if you know of anybody needing portraits/headshots/and the like, do holla. Booking for May/June at the moment, UK based, happy to travel etc.

Beyond the official side of my practice, I also make in a variety of ways. I’m bizarrely obsessed with paper. I collect it, and whenever I move house, it’s always the paper/book stash that outweighs the wardrobe and other belongings. Recently I’ve been mono printing, a quick yet hugely satisfying process that involves drawing backwards (which I think I do anyway, at least, I do write backwards, it slows me down enough to articulate an idea but not too much to stunt me), and making one off prints of whatever comes to mind.
This week I heard Tilda Swinton’s release with Orbital. It came on radio 2, the only station I can get on the old radio I have, and I was thrown off track and absorbed. I can’t describe it so I’ll just post a link here. It’s bloody brilliant. I made a print as I listened.
I”m also working on a portfolio, incorporating a decade of pictures i’ve snapped. It’s kinda mind-blowing how many people i’ve met and places I've been fortunate to live. It’s also kinda cathartic to go through various stages, visually, emotionally, of the places I’ve been and lived in, and see what moments apparently stand out. I”m putting all these photographs together in a huge ass portfolio, I bought a lovely sketchbook from Cornellissons this week (fancy af), and am going to spend these spring evenings threading a visual meander through my twenties together. There will only be one copy, hand finished, and I’m intending for this to be the gem that I take round to agencies to get work as a photographer. Imagine! Having somebody who is specifically good at booking jobs, combined with me, who specifically wants to get more jobs.
I’ll post some updates on this as I go. For now here are some visual things.
